Who We Are

Sean is a musician and leader in the music community, with an excellent track record for visionary local, regional and national leadership as a voice for the creative sector. He has served on many boards in the creative sector including the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations, Western Canadian Music Alliance and Manitobans for the Arts. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Brandon University and a Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology from York University.

Sean is currently the Executive Director of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra.

Nancy’s longstanding commitment to Manitoba’s arts, culture, and community makes her a valued voice on the Manitoba Film and Music board. She was first introduced to the film industry as the Executive Director of the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association, in its formative years before becoming On Screen Manitoba. Nancy’s passion for the arts continued through her leadership as Chair of the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival and her work in fund development for the Winnipeg Folk Festival.

Her dedication to public service is reflected in her time as a school trustee for both the Norwood and Louis Riel School Divisions. Elected as the MLA for St. Vital, she served in Premier Gary Doer’s cabinet as Minister of Labour and Immigration and later as Minister of Education.

With decades of experience across the arts, education, and government, Nancy brings a collaborative, community-driven perspective to Manitoba Film and Music—advocating for policies and initiatives that support the growth of the province’s creative industries.

Cody Chomiak is the Vice President of Marketing at Travel Manitoba, where he leads global marketing strategies to elevate the province as a premier tourism destination. With over 20 years of experience in destination marketing and digital innovation, Cody brings a strong background in brand-building and content strategy. He serves on the board of Destinations International and is a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME). A frequent speaker on AI and marketing, Cody offers a forward-thinking perspective at the intersection of creativity, technology, and tourism.

Kevin has enjoyed a lengthy career in the concert and live entertainment industry.

Initially a concert promoter in both Winnipeg and Vancouver, Kevin oversaw concerts in small clubs to large stadiums from Victoria to Winnipeg. Now, as SVP of True North Sports & Entertainment, Kevin oversees all events at the Canada Life Centre and has done so for the past 20 years and going. He also took the reins of the Burton Cummings Theatre 10 years ago.

Cheryl Grewar, CPA, CA has over 30 years of experience in senior financial positions primarily in distribution and entertainment businesses.  Most recently, she was the CFO at Tangent Animation Inc. for two years and the CFO at Frantic Films for 12 years.   She was the CFO for the Grey Cup Festival in Winnipeg in 2015.

Cheryl has extensive experience working with production and operations.  She has set up processes and procedures to maximize financing from various sources including government tax credits for film and television production.

She has also worked on numerous acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers in various industries. Her involvement included developing proposals, working through due diligence, analyzing offers and working on information system combinations and replacements following various transactions.

She taught the undergraduate Canadian tax course at the Asper School of Business - University of Manitoba for many years and currently serves as a board member and Treasurer for Rainbow Stage.

Janet has worked in an executive capacity within the Manitoba credit union system for almost 10 years. All told, she has 25+ years of experience in risk, accounting, and audit in industries that include financial services, agriculture and insurance. A strong believer in education, Janet holds a designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D), which provides a sound base for understanding governance within organizations as well as at a Board level. She also has a Masters of Business Administration, a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA, CGA) along with several internal audit designations. Janet is currently the Chair on the Canadian Advisory Committee for the Institute of Internal Auditors and works for Assiniboine Credit Union as VP Compliance & Risk.

Jagdev Singh Pannu/Pannu Tharaj, a dynamic entrepreneur and music industry trailblazer, hails from Punjab, India. He made his way to Canada in 2011 as a skilled worker, where he quickly immersed himself in the world of startups. In 2020, driven by his love for music and culture, Jagdev founded a successful music company and production house. His entrepreneurial journey has seen him organize high-profile live concerts, produce numerous music videos, and passionately promote the Punjabi language and culture on a global stage. Through his work, Jagdev continues to leave an indelible mark on both the music industry and the celebration of Punjabi heritage.
