Building a culture of respect in the workplace is fundamental to creating a safer, more equitable music industry for everyone. MFM, Women in Music Canada and Manitoba Music have created a respectful workplace workshop specific for Manitoba based recording industry professionals, called Safer Studios.
The next Safer Studios training session is April 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Manitoba Music, and free registration is open now here.
MFM requires that all accredited recording services have at least one staff person take Safer Studios training course.
Accredited recording services who have not completed the training by the end of July will be removed from the accredited recording services list, and will not be eligible to be used on MFM-funded recording projects.
Please note there will be no additional Safter Studios training scheduled before the July 31, 2026 deadline. The April training session is your final chance to take the Safer Studios training and maintain your MFM accreditation.
Newly accredited services have one year to complete the training from the time of accreditation by MFM. Services that were accredited by MFM prior to the implementation of this additional criteria in August 2024 were required to complete their training within two years (by July 31, 2026). This notice was first issued in August 2024 and MFM, along with its partners Women in Music Canada and Manitoba Music, have offered four training sessions in this time.
If your studio has not completed the training and you cannot make the April 15th session, you will need to reach out to MFM staff.
